WHAT LUCK!
A once in a lifetime shot – mind the pun!
Driving home from a dear friend’s farm near Tamworth, NSW this lovely Albino Kangaroo jumped alongside me with a mob of about 20 other Roo’s.
I could not believe my eyes, I think I half went into shock as I knew I was seeing something absolutely extraordinary, an Albino Kangaroo in the wild Australian bush. MAGICAL!!!
I later found out her name is “Snowy” and she is well known in the area. The rest of the mob hopped off into the horizon, though “Snowy” stopped and stared at me as if to say “Are you going to take my picture”?
My camera is always out of its bag, loaded, no lens cap on and ready to go….. 20 years of experience has taught me to always have the camera READY!
‘Snowy” was just stunning. She stayed for a while in the same spot and I stopped the car and jumped out to get a little closer.
It was pouring with rain so it was a bit slippery but I just LOVE the mood created from the overcast weather. Snowy ofcourse stands out so well against the dark background and the reason she is so fluffy was because she shook and rustled her fur to make herself warm so she looks like a teddy!
If I had come across her and it was a bright sunny day, she may have been too bright and blown out….
I must have got about 3 shots as I slowly walked closer to her, some photos had obstructions, others blurry… then ever so fast all in a split second I managed to capture one GREAT SHOT (even if I say so myself). Years of running around photographing toddlers, animals and brides paid off as my quick shooting got me this capture and I am proud to say it’s probably my most favorite photo I’ve taken so far.
ABC radio saw this photo on social media and contacted me for an interview as they also could not believe their eyes when they saw the image. I have had comments at exhibitions from disbelievers that “You must be really good at photoshop Clare to edit the Kangaroo albino!” …. or “great use of A.I Clare”…
I can assure you this is a straight, once in a lifetime photograph, no editing, no photoshop just PURE MAGIC! A goosebump moment… never ever can this image be captured this way again!
If you like this photo and would enjoy seeing “Snowy” everyday on your walls as a piece of art and escapism you can purchase a print or frame in my gallery.
I recommend presenting this photo LARGE…. I mean absolutely HUGE.
Printed on canvas looks brilliant as it gives a painterly effect and I myself have chosen a float frame in Tasmanian Oak for my place.
